The biggest challenge i had was the edit of the final film was not how i imagined it would be and as the company had specifically asked someone else to edit i felt uncomfortable when i tried to ask if i could edit myself especially as i was able to see the final edit the day before my hand in. The editor was extremely uncooperative during the entire post production process and i felt that it may have been a better decision to edit myself by the company assured me they were happy with the film and so my hands were tied.
looking past this aspect of the filming i feel that the work i put into research helped me to see how different companies use the fun method when promoting a product but i felt that this didn't reflect the event aspect and the brief i was given was to create a maturer themed piece.
I am overall happy with my work on this project and feel that i have defiantly learnt a lot. I think its important not to overstretch yourself and although i was glad to not also have to edit, the roles i did have did mean i was often working incredibly hard and meant i wasn't able to rely on another person to support me as i normally would on a project. This being said in the future i will definatly try and work as a team in the future as i think it is not only more realistic for future job aspects but also means i can focus more on my strengths and things i actually want to pursue rather than a wider range of skills.
I am pleased that the company liked my work and it is a shame that the edit doesn't truly reflect this. If i could change things i would have edited the piece myself and therefore been able to fully control what was put into the final edit. The music does not reflect the product and i think is very music video esque as it just runs linear throughout with no change in tone for each of the three sections which i felt was an important part.
Ultimately it has been a massive learning curve but i have enjoyed working on this project and again aside from the edit i am very pleased in my planning, directing, how the shots turned out and my professionalism throughout.
Stay safe,
Helen
