Studio Production: CAFT Meeting
In Preparation for the CAFT meeting i created a storyboard so i could know the kind of set design ideas i could advise the set designers. I took pictures that interested me and sets that were already out there to help them to create a concept that could work best for the show.

Studio Production: Casting
I already had an idea in my head for 2 of the panelists and had spoken to Danny about the possibility of Jamie, who i had worked with on the digital news project, as auditioning for presenter.
The 2 people i thought about auditioning were Jordan and Beth. I work with them both and know they are very opinionated people, and although they are friends, they often disagree on a lot of things and therefore i felt they would be good additions to the show. I got them both to come in for auditions and felt that they had really strong personalities and handled the camera well. I wanted to utilise there time by having them have their group interview at the same time. So we had them do their's together, as some of the production team weren't sure about having them on the show together as friends as they might not clash so i felt that having them interview together would showcase their differences more. It worked excellently and the team really liked them and we decided to choose them as panelists. This left one spot available.
We also interviewed a art student who wasn't in the age range for the target audience and wasn't knowledgeable about the topics other than art. His views were very middle of the road and was easily swayed with his opinion. This meant he wasn't a good fit for our show. We then waited for a few other applicants but they were no shows.
The last person we had in was Roo. He was a friend of Kate's and was really keen to be involved. As we knew he would be up against beth and jordan we decided to really go hard on him during the interview to see if he could handle a lot of people taking one side against him and he did brilliantly. He was very informed about the topics and seemed genuinely interested and motivated to stick up for his view point. We were really pleased to ask him to be our final panelist.
As for the role of presenter we skyped all of our applicants. Two were really knowledgable and really passionate about the topics. However our favourite - Dave - had a really difficult schedule to work around and as he wasn't available on the rehearsal days we felt it wouldn't be a wise choice to hire him. We then Skyped Jamie. I knew he worked well under live conditions and could handle the pressure but i wasn't sure if he would be able to handle the topics we were covering. Jamie explained although he wasn't as up to date on the topics as we would like he was prepared to go away and do his own research and read anything we gave him, in order to be the presenter we needed. He also had a schedule which meant he would be free for our hans sessions so we could practice with him and mold him to what we needed and get him used to interrupting the debates.
After a vote, we decided to go with jamie and therefore had our line up.
